Machine Moulding

Machine moulding is automated and very effective in medium volume production. The sand is mixed with bentonite and compressed in the mould box (flask) for strength. The two mould halves are coated, cores are inserted and the moulds are joined in the parting line. The mould design includes gating system to carry the melt and feeders to ensure good casting quality. The sand and bentonite mix is recirculated in a reclamation system.

The wooden or plastic pattern are somewhat less expensive than the grey cast iron pattern as used in shell forming giving an advantage in medium volume production.
