Shell Moulding

Shell moulding is fast, automated and suitable for high volume production. The sand used is coated with phenolic resin and cured with heat from the heated pattern. Cores, feeders and filters are added and the two halves are assembled and glued together. The moulds are packed in boxes with support material before poring. The sand steel ratio is low giving effective and environmental friendly process.

Shell moulding gives superior surface finish, high dimensional accuracy and less fettling compared to conventional sand casting.
